An overview of the courses I have taken at Clemson University with short descriptions, along with some sample works that demonstrate my competency in each category. Having grown up around native speakers of French, I was able to test into an intermediate level of French when I started my college studies.
Language-Oriented Courses
FR 3160 French for Int'l Business I
This course was an introduction to the French business world. I learned about etiquettes and formalities by analyzing and working on business letters and documents.
Culture and Literature Courses
FR 3070 French Civilization
This course taught me the significant history of French culture from its origins to the Revolution, by highlighting important events and figures and the role they played in the social, political, and cultural development of modern France.
Business-Oriented Courses
ACCT 2010 Financial Accounting Concepts
I studied accounting principles with emphasis on the use of financial data and analysis of financial statements, and its importance in the way it applies in the real world.
MATH 1020 & 2070 Business Calculus I & II
These courses taught me intuitive approach to the concepts of calculus concepts and its application in the business world. In the first part, I learned functions and graphing, differentiation, and integration with applications from social, biological, and management sciences. In the second part, I learned the calculus of several variables, multiple integrals, differential calculus, and optimization of several variables.
ECON 2110 Principles of Microeconomics
This course introduced economic reasoning and its concepts. I received insights on topics such as monopoly, public policies, competition, and their roles.
MKT 3020 Consumer Behavior
In this course, I studied consumer decision making by examining individual and group behavioral science concepts.
ECON 3100 International Economics
I learned about international trade processes. We covered the basic theory of trade and exchange rates, institutional and legal environment, and current policy issues that all shape the conditions of the global economy.
MKT 3010 Principles of Marketing
In this course, I was introduced to the key strategies used in marketing to effectively promote and distribute goods to target consumers.
MKT 3030 Marketing and Society
I explored global challenges in marketing and society with emphasis on the societal impact of decisions and practices. Through application project-based learning, we analyzed topics including ethics, environmental sustainability, political and economic philosophies, and topical issues that arise in relation to society and marketing.
MKT 4270 International Marketing
In this course, I studied international through the lenses of evolutionary principles, with emphasis on how similarities and differences in human behavior all over the world, affect consumer behavior.
MGT 3030 Global Business
I am learning about the global environment through concepts that affect doing business internationally. Topics include institutional differences, foreign direct investment, and policies that shape the international trade.
Other Courses
PRTM 3420 Introduction to Tourism
This course introduced travel and tourism in the United States with focus on terminology, demographics, financial significance, and trends.
POSC 1020 Introduction to International Relations
This course introduced both theory and practice in global politics. I studied structures, primary actors in the international system, reasons conflict occurs, and roles of international institutions, law, and policy.
